Stirling Castle was once a favourite royal residence of
the Stuart Kings and is now a popular visitor attraction. 250 feet above the plain on an extinct volcano, Stirling
was in a strategic military position known as the key to the kingdom during the 13th and 14th century Wars
of Independence.
Stirling Castle played an important role in the life of Mary Queen of Scots. She spent her childhood
in the castle and Mary's coronation took place in the Chapel Royal.
The Castle houses the Regimental Museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders detailing their eventful history
from 1794 to the present. It is also home to a tapestry studio examples of the work can be seen in the Chapel Royal.

Stirling is within easy reach of Edinburgh and make a pleasent
day tour traveling to Stirling Castle the through farmlands to Aberfoyle. Aberfoyle is a small village at the entrance
to the Trossachs known as the Highlands in miniature. If you do not have time to travel into the Highlands of Scotland
the Trossachs will let you see Lochs, forrests, hills and maybe even deer.
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs
A great day tour from Edinburgh is to Loch Lomond. Here you can cruise on the Loch from Balloch, visit Luss
on the shore of the Loch. One of the largest Lochs in Scotland and the largest expanse of fresh water in Britain it has 30
islands, fishing, cycling and walking not to mention the history, geology and scenery.
