Leaving Edinburgh you will travel northwest, passing the majestic Stirling Castle, before making your first stop at Kilmahog to see some Highland cattle up close and take some light refreshments. You will travel on through Rob Roy Country and then on to the dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most famous glens. Here you will pause for a photo stop, and to soak up the atmosphere in this haunting glen site of the 1692 massacre of the Clan MacDonald.
Passing through Fort William and on to the pretty village of Fort Augustus, where you can enjoying spectacular views of Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal. You will then travel on to Urquhart Castle on the shore of Loch Ness. You will have the oppurtunity to take a cruise on Loch Ness or visit Urquhart Castle.
Start the return journy home you will pass through Inverness, Capital of the Highlands, crossing the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire, including the Forest of Atholl, with an optional refreshment stop in Pitlochry a pretty Victorian resort town, then back to Edinburgh.
